I’ve rounded up 15 popular decor ideas, and of course included tips to make it easy to try them at home!
Hope you enjoy this round up of home decor trends to try in 2021 and get inspired to create a space you’ll love for years to come!
1. Fixed Glass Shower Door
Looking for that sleek, spa like feel in your bathroom? A fixed glass panel door replaced a traditional hinge door, with a stylish minimal look.
To try this trend at home make sure that your glass extends long enough to keep water out, but gives you plenty to space to enter and exit.
2. Copper Fixtures
We’ve all seen a boom in bronze, and copper finish on fixtures is here to stay!
They’re stylish in both antique & contemporary shapes, perfect for kitchens. Just make sure you’re prepared to use a special fixture cleaner to keep the finish looking shiny for years to come.
3. No Hardware On Cabinets
One of the biggest decor trends is to the leave the hardware off of your cabinets, and let the other features of the room shine.
Of course, you’ll still need a way to open the drawers. The solution? Cabinetry with built in handles, like these beautiful wood one’s below.
4. Iron & Glass Windows & Doors
Iron windows and doors are one of the biggest home decor trends for 2021, with their chic silhouettes.
To try this trend you can have custom iron doors installed, or install your own sliding barn door!
5. Grandmillenial Style Decor
One of my favorite home decor trends that has returned is a love of the classics! “Grandmillenial” style is an updated take on classic traditional styles mixed with “granny chic”, and it’s making waves throughout the world.
This look uses a maximalist flair with bright colors and familiar cozy textures to create a lived in look that looks like it’s been there for ages.
6. Rattan Hanging Chairs
Retro styles like wicker and rattan have made a big comeback lately, and one of the most scroll stopping items to have is a rattan hanging chair!
They don’t only look great in an outdoor space, but we’ve seen these throwback styles suspended in entryways, bedroom, and living rooms, too!
If hanging something from the ceiling isn’t right for you grab one with a hanger stand, or go for a more polished look with rattan bistro chairs instead.
7. Handmade Ceramics
Another big 2021 home decor trend is a return to organic and handmade ceramics, where each item is slightly unique.
Try out this trend by supporting local ceramic makers via Etsy, or check out one of my favorites: Heath Ceramics in California that make one of a kind items.
8. Jewel Colored Couches
Nothing adds a pop of glamour to a room like jewel tones, and a sofa is a great place to try out this trend.
Sapphire blue and emerald green couches are excellent choices, and structured silhouettes can give any room a modern victorian style sophistication.
9. Bold Print Wallpaper
Bold wallpaper is another 2021 home decor trend that we expect to see much more of, and big patterns like banana leaf print are so fun to try!
The banana leaf pattern was made famous by legendary maximalist designers of the past, and it’s perfect for a feature wall in a bedroom, bathroom, or dressing room.
10. Storage Furniture
One if the easiest ways to make your small bedroom look bigger is to have furniture that works double duty!
Try adding a bed frame with storage underneath, so you can stash clothing, linens, or shoes without sacrificing on style.
11. Hideaway Desks
Another trend we’ve seen rise (out of necessity) in 2021 is a hideaway desk. These wall mounted gems have a shelves with plenty of space to store office supplies, books and papers.
They’re especially helpful while a lot of us have someone working from home, or doing NTI (non traditional instruction) learning in the house. Need to use the room later for your home gym? You can have all your floor space back in a flash!
12. Year Round Outdoor Spaces
This year more people are cherishing the importance of spending more time outdoors, and looking for more creative ways to make their patio feel like a living room.
You can upgrade your patio with outdoor furniture, a fire pit, or even cover it with a sturdy steel gazebo to transform it without any major renovations needed.
13. Herringbone Rugs
Traditional herringbone and chevron patterns will continue to be big home decor trends in 2021, in everything from tile work to flooring.
One of the easiest ways try the herringbone trend is with a cozy floor rug, which always remind me of chic parisian decorating.
14. Dark Blue Cabinets
Dark blue is one of the trendiest colors for cabinets, and moody blues with gray tones look great in any kitchen.
If you’re doing a kitchen remodel you can buy cabinets in this luxe hue, or simply give your existing cabinets a makeover with a DIY cabinet paint kit.
15. Antique Style Mirrors
And finally, those stylish oversize mirrors with antique style are all over instagram for a reason!
For a vintage look choose a gold mirror with an ornate details. They look as fabulous mounted above a mantle, as they do simply leaning against the wall!
Thanks for reading this round up of fun home decor trends for 2021 that anyone can try at home!
