Is anyone else already planning their Thanksgiving table before they’ve even thought about the menu?! I’m guilty every single year. And lately I’ve been saving so many tables with elegant Thanksgiving table decor and a vintage twist, the kind with mismatched china, flickering tapers and a few flea market treasures mixed in.

Honestly, my favorite tables never look brand new. Instead, they look like someone has been collecting pretty plates and old silver for years (and maybe raided Grandma’s cabinet a little).
The good news? You definitely don’t need a dining room full of antiques to pull this off. So I rounded up 18 of the prettiest tables I keep coming back to, plus the pieces I’d actually buy to get each look at home!
Elegant Thanksgiving Table Decor With a Vintage Twist
To me, elegant Thanksgiving table decor doesn’t mean stuffy. It just means the table feels special, like you put a little extra love into it. Real plates, cloth napkins and lots of candlelight already get you most of the way there.
The vintage part is where it gets fun! Transferware, gold-rimmed china, pewter and old silver all make a table feel like it has a story. In fact, it’s the same reason I’m obsessed with decorating with vintage pieces all year long. Mixing a few old finds with new basics keeps everything from looking too matchy, too.
And if you want even more inspo after this, Veranda’s tastemaker Thanksgiving tables are so dreamy!
1. Ivory Taper Candles and a Low Centerpiece

First things first, keep the centerpiece low! This porch table piles pomegranates, pears and grapes on a moss-covered stand, then lines it with skinny green tapers. Because nothing is too tall, everyone can still chat across the table, which is my number one rule for elegant Thanksgiving table decor.
I also love the lanterns on each end. Tapers and votives are honestly the cheapest way to make any table look elegant, and everyone looks better in candlelight. Trust me on this one!
2. Gold-Rimmed China

Can we talk about this place setting?! The gold-rimmed Herend china with its little orange flowers looks so good on the floral tablecloth. Then the red dahlias and purple glasses make it feel moody and romantic.
My tip: don’t worry if your plates don’t match! Instead, stick to one color family and one metal (like gold rims) and you can mix a bunch of patterns. A pair of gold chargers underneath pulls it all together.
3. Brown Transferware Plates

Is there anything cozier than brown transferware?! It’s my favorite shortcut to elegant Thanksgiving table decor. These turkey plates sit on simple linen placemats, with orange mums, mini pumpkins and gourds tucked all around them.
Also, transferware is one of the easiest vintage pieces to start collecting. You can find it at antique shops and estate sales, and the Spode Woodland turkey plate is still made today. So it’s such a fun one to start with!
4. Vintage Brass Candlesticks

If you have a fireplace, pull the table a little closer! A long table next to a crackling fire with a row of tapers down the middle is pure Thanksgiving magic.
For the candlesticks, I’d go with brass every time, since nothing feels more like classic elegant Thanksgiving table decor to me. Mixing a few different heights and styles looks more collected than a perfect matching set. Plus, you’ll pull them out again for Christmas.
5. Block Print Table Runners

Scalloped chargers are such a sweet detail, and I love them in blue for fall! On top of a floral block print runner, they feel a little French and a little grandmillennial.
Since blue and orange sit opposite each other on the color wheel, a few marigolds or zinnias really pop here. Meanwhile, a set of blue transferware plates would look so pretty on top of the runner too.
6. Woven and Silver Charger Plates

Chargers are such an easy way to make a table feel dressed up! Here, woven chargers sit under blue and white plates on a pretty floral tablecloth, and a big bunch of white tulips keeps it fresh.
I love mixing textures, so try woven chargers with fine china or hammered silver ones with transferware. Also, they protect your tablecloth from gravy drips, which is honestly the best part.
7. Blue and White Transferware

You all know I can never resist blue and white! I love how this little vignette hangs transferware plates right on the wall, then fills a blue and white tureen with yellow flowers below.
If you already have a stack of blue and white plates, Thanksgiving is the perfect excuse to use them, on the table or on the wall. Spode Blue Room and Blue Italian are the classics I’d start with, since they mix with almost anything. I shared lots more ways to style this look in my chinoiserie decor ideas, too.
8. Glass Votives and Hurricanes

If you only buy one thing for your table, make it a big box of glass votives! This navy table is lined with hurricanes and little votives, and the whole thing just glows. Candlelight really is the secret to elegant Thanksgiving table decor!
Then mix tall hurricanes with little votives for a layered, vintage feel. Since votives are so cheap, you can scatter a dozen down the middle and still have plenty left for the mantel.
9. Polished Silver and White Roses

Okay, this table is pure romance! Tall silver candelabras, white garden roses and piles of pears and pomegranates run right down the middle, and the monogrammed napkins are such a sweet detail.
You don’t need a whole silver collection, though. Instead, start with one vintage silver compote full of roses or fruit (here are my tips for buying vintage decor online). Then add a pair of candlesticks and it already feels so special.
10. Glass Cloches for the Sideboard

Glass cloches make anything look like a little museum piece! Here, simple bundles of wheat sit under glass domes next to skinny brass candlesticks on a blue check tablecloth. So easy, yet so pretty!
They’re perfect for a sideboard or buffet next to your table, too. For instance, put mini pumpkins, pears or even the pies under them until dessert.
11. Amber Goblets for Elegant Thanksgiving Table Decor

Amber goblets are one of the easiest ways to make a table feel vintage. They glow in candlelight, and they look so gorgeous with the orange roses running down this long table.
Even a set of four adds a pop of warm color to elegant Thanksgiving table decor. However, I’d mix them with clear wine glasses so the table doesn’t feel too themed.
12. Grain Sack Stripe Runners

Heirloom pumpkins in soft sage green are so much prettier than the bright orange ones, in my opinion! With dark grapes and a striped linen runner, this table looks like a harvest painting.
To get the look, start with a grain sack stripe runner down the middle of the table. Then add a few bunches of real grapes the morning of.
13. Silver and Gold Place Card Holders

Handwritten place cards make every guest feel so special! This silver charger with a black napkin and a calligraphy card is such a chic, dressy look.
And you don’t need perfect handwriting, I promise. Instead, try a gold paint pen on cream card stock, then tuck each one into a little silver or gold place card holder. Mixing the two metals is totally fine, and it actually looks more collected!
14. Linen Dinner Napkins

A soft pink linen napkin on a scalloped blue plate is such an unexpected combo for fall, and I love it! The single pomegranate on top is so simple but so pretty.
Linen napkins are one of my favorite elegant Thanksgiving table decor splurges, because you’ll use them for every holiday. So pick a color you love and let it be the star.
15. Ivory Lace Napkins

Okay, this one makes me a little teary! Instead of a name card, each seat gets an old family photo on a lace napkin. It’s such a sweet way to bring the whole family to the table.
Then soften each place setting with an ivory lace napkin, just like Grandma’s. Your guests will be talking about it all night (in a good way).
16. A Pumpkin Vase on a Cake Stand

A white pumpkin stuffed with marigolds, daisies and wild purple stems is such a fun centerpiece! I love how loose and garden-y it feels, like you just came in from the yard.
My tip: tuck a little floral foam inside the pumpkin first, and then set it on a cake stand so it gets a little lift. Then pick a milk glass or white pedestal stand, which looks so vintage and works for pies later, too.
17. Striped and Plaid Runners for an Outdoor Table

If the weather cooperates, an outdoor Thanksgiving is so dreamy! This long table is set right inside an open barn, with a plaid cloth, wood chairs and fall flowers in a copper pitcher. It honestly feels like a movie scene.
Keep it simple with a striped or plaid runner and a few string lights overhead. Also, bring out plenty of blankets for when the sun goes down!
18. Brass Napkin Rings

Lastly, gilded oak leaves scattered down a blue and white table look so magical! They catch the candlelight and add just a little bit of glam.
To finish, slip a brass napkin ring on every napkin. It takes two seconds, yet it makes every place setting look so finished. (I pulled together even more fall decor ideas for the rest of the house, too!)
Setting Your Own Elegant Thanksgiving Table
I hope these elegant Thanksgiving table decor ideas gave you a table (or three) to steal from! My biggest tip is to start small. For example, a set of brass candlesticks or some linen napkins will make your table feel special this year, and then you can keep adding pieces you love over time.
After all, the prettiest tables are the ones that feel personal. So mix in Grandma’s gravy boat, use the mismatched plates and light all the candles. Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
