When you have guests staying over, you want to make them feel as comfortable and welcome as possible.
One way to do that is to set up a guest room cart that has everything they might need or want during their stay.
A guest room cart is a handy and stylish way to provide your guests with items such as towels, toiletries, snacks, drinks, books, magazines, and more.
No one likes to ask for favors, so this sure fire way to put guests at ease! It’s like giving them their own personal mini-bar or room service!
I added one to our guest room when my in laws visited from Italy, and my MIL said it reminded her of a fancy hotel! Here all all the tips I used to create an unforgettable guest cart.
How to Make Your Guests Feel at Home with a Guest Room Cart
1. Pick the perfect cart:
The first step is to choose a cart that suits your guest room and your guests’ needs.
You want a cart that is sturdy, spacious, and easy to move around. You also want a cart that matches the style and color of your guest room.
You can find carts in different shapes, sizes, and materials, such as wood, metal, or plastic. You can also DIY your own cart by repurposing an old table, shelf, or dresser.
2. Stock up on towels:
It’s better upfront to provide your guests with plenty of towels for their bathroom needs.
You want to give them soft and absorbent towels that are clean and fresh, and white is the way to go. This way you can bleach them after their stay, and they will stay bright white.
You can also add some extras, such as a bathrobe, slippers, or a hair towel, to make them feel more pampered and relaxed.
You can organize your towels on your cart using hooks, baskets, or shelves, and make sure they are easy to reach and use.
3. Fill up on toiletries:
One of the best things to add to your guest cart is toiletries that your guests might need or appreciate.
Give them the basics, such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, razor, shaving cream, lotion, and deodorant.
You can also give them some extras, such as a face mask, a body scrub, a hair dryer, or a curling iron, to make them feel more spoiled and special.
Use travel-sized containers or refillable bottles to store your toiletries, and label them clearly for your guests’ convenience.
4. Offer snacks and drinks:
Guest don’t always feel comfortable helping themselves in your kitchen, but it’s a great idea to stock your snack cart with some snacks and drinks that they can enjoy anytime they want.
You want to give them a variety of options, such as water, juices, coffee drinks, – or any other drinks that taste fine at room temperature. Cookies, chips, nuts, candy, chocolate, or fruit are also great picks for snacks.
I also like to give them some local specialties or homemade treats to make them feel even more special!
5. Provide tech and entertainment:
Provide your guests with some tech and entertainment options that they can use for fun or relaxation during their stay.
You want to give them the essentials, such as the Wi-Fi password, a charger, an adapter, and a remote control.
If you want to give them some extras, such as wireless earphones, and a night light, it can really help them get comfortable before bed.
6. Prepare For Minor Emergencies
Another great thing to add to your guest cart is a mini first aid kit with basic bandages and medicines case they need it.
You can include items such as tylenol, antiseptics, allergy pills, cough drops, or antacids. A mini sewing kit is another helpful thing to have on hand – just in case!
7. Add personal touches:
Add some personal touches to your cart that show your guests that you care!
You can also give them a note or a gift to welcome them, or give them some recommendations for their stay.
You can also give them some special amenities that match their interests such as a book, magazine or a board game.
How to Style Your Guest Room Cart
Once you have all your items, you can start styling your cart. Here are some tips and tricks on how to make it look amazing:
- Arrange your items by category and size: such as snacks, drinks, toiletries, etc. and arrange them by size, from largest to smallest. This makes your cart look organized, and also make it easier for your guests to find what they need.
- You can use baskets, jars, and trays to store and display your items, and add some texture and contrast to your cart. You can use wicker baskets, glass jars, metal trays, or wooden crates, depending on your style. You can also label them with tags or stickers, to make them look more cute and customized.
- Add some color and personality: You can add some color and personality to your cart, by using some accessories and decorations. You can also use some photos, postcards, or quotes, to personalize your cart, and make it more meaningful.
That’s it, you have created a guest room cart that your guests will love and appreciate. You have provided them with everything they might need or want during their stay, and you have added some personal and thoughtful touches that make them feel special and valued. You have elevated their experience with your hospitality and care. Happy hosting! 😊
